APC CHAIRMAN LOBBY OVER APPOINTMENT

A report by MASS WATCH indicates that state chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked to be carried along in the appointment of ministers. According to the report, the party leaders made their position known at a recent meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held in Abuja. They said they were not carried along when the immediate past ministers were appointed in 2015, adding that the situation was responsible for the inability of the ex-cabinet members to deliver their wards during the last general elections. Consequently, they appealed to the NWC to inform the president that their inputs should be considered in the appointment of ministers from their respective state chapters. A source quoted in the report said: “The president is not going waste time this period and he is not under pressure to make the list known. The man is taking his time to able to come up with competent party members. “He is not going to reward people with ministerial positions like former Congress for Progressive Change members, who were appointed and made little impact. He is going for quality hands, who would be chosen from the party. “To make that possible, state party chairmen at a meeting with the NWC in Abuja last two Thursdays, pleaded with the party leadership to carry them along in the appointment of ministers, especially in non-APC states. “They gave examples of states where cabinet members were appointed in 2015 without their contributions. The party chairmen want to be part of the process now. “Their belief is that if they are carried along, people, whose objectives are different from the president’s vision, would not be appointed. The NWC agreed that they would be carried along.” Meanwhile, the immediate past governor of Lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode is being considered for a “juicy” ministerial position. How to locate all the NYSC orientation camps for 2019 Batch A orientation exercise
1. ABIA: On your way to Umuahia, come down at Bus stop gate in Umuahia, take a cab going to Ohafia via Igbere. Tell the driver you are going to Igbere before Abriba. Once you stop at Igbere which is just about 300-400 naira from Umuahia. Cross to the other side of the road and walk straight to camp. Please, on no account should you tell the driver that you're going to Bende, because Bende Town is a bit far from Igbere where your camp is located.
2. ANAMBRA: Coming from Onitsha, go to upper iweka and enter a bus going to Awka, as soon as you'd enter the bus, don't forget to remind the driver or conductor that you'll be stopping at the NYSC orientation camp in Umunya. When you'd get to Umunya, look for a bike man that'll take you into the camp. The distance from Onitsha to Umunya is from 20 to 40 minutes and the total price might range from 300 to 500. Coming from Awka, go to unizik junction and enter a bus going to Onitsha, as soon as you'd enter the bus, don't forget to remind the driver or conductor that you'll be stopping at the NYSC orientation camp in Umunya. When you'd get to Umunya, look for a bike man that'll take you into the camp. The distance from Awka to Umunya is from 20 to 30 minutes and the total price might range from 300 to 400.
3. KANO: On your way to Kano state, tell the driver to drop you at Unguwa uku. When he stops, you'll see buses waiting to drop people at Karaye camp at the rate of 500 to 700 naira, but if the driver didn't stop you at Unguwa uku, then stop at the final bus stop, Sabon-gari park at new road and board a Keke to Bata for 50 to 70 naira, from there, find a bus to Kabuga park, when you'd get to Kabuga park, board a bus to Karaye camp.

4. JIGAWA: From Kano, take a bus going to Dutse, tell the driver that you'll stop at the NYSC orientation camp in Fanisau, the journey will last for about 1 hour 30 minutes. The camp is located opposite an Army barrack.

7. OYO: When you'd get to Ibadan, stop at Iwo road. From Iwo road, take a taxi of 150 to 200 naira going to Ojoo and tell them to drop you at Iseyin park. From Iseyin park, take a bus going to the orientation camp for up to 800 to 1,000 naira and be prepared for more that 2 hours journey.
8. DELTA: For those coming to Delta from Lagos and the whole of South West or Benin, enter Asaba bus or Onitsha bus and tell the driver to drop you at Issele-Uku junction. Enter the bus and drop at Issele-Uku junction. When you'd get to the junction, cross the express and take a bike straight to the orientation camp, which will range from 70 - 100 naira. The journey to Issele-uku from Asaba is about 25 to 35 minutes.
9. ADAMAWA: From Yola, take a taxi to Vinikilang. From Vinikilang, you'll get a Keke straight to the camp. You can also take a drop that will carry only you or with your friends straight to the camp from whichever park you are arriving from. The price for a drop will range from 700 to 1,000 naira.

10. KATSINA: From Kano, board a bus going to Katsina, from the park in Katsina, you'll get a bike straight to the camp, located at Mani road.

17. ABUJA/FCT: Stop at Jabi park, take a taxi or Keke to Wuse market and board a bus going to Kubwa village. The last bus stop is at Kubwa market, from the Kubwa market, the NYSC orientation camp is just a walking distance or you could just board a bike to the camp.
18. LAGOS: From Ikeja, take a bus to Iyana Ipaja, when you'd get to Iyana Ipaja, take a bus to Agege or Iyapaja and tell the driver to stop you at the NYSC orientation camp. From Ojota, take a bus to Oshodi, from Oshodi, take a bus to Iyana Ipaja and stop at their last bus stop which is under bridge, take the road on the right where you were stopped and walk down straight or ask people around the bus stop where the nysc camp is located and they will direct you appropriately. From Oyingbo, take a bus going to costain, when you'd get to costain, take a bus to Ojuelegba, from Ojuelegba, take a bus going to Oshodi, from Oshodi, take a bus to Iyana Ipaja and stop at their last bus stop which is under bridge, take the road on the right where you were stopped and walk down straight or ask people around the bus stop where the NYSC orientation camp is located and they will direct you appropriately.

19. OGUN: From Lagos, take a direct bus to Sagamu, when the bus stops, enter a bike straight to the orientation camp. From Abeokuta, take a bus to Sagamu, when the bus stops, enter a bike straight to the orientation camp. From Abeokuta to Sagamu is close to an hour.
20. IMO: Coming from Owerri, take a bus from Ama JK to Nkwerre. Make sure that you'd tell the driver that you're going to the NYSC camp in Eziama Obaire Nkwerre, stop at Nkume junction and take a bike to the camp. The distance from Owerri to the camp is like 40 minutes to 1 hour and the bus charge will be ranging from 300 to 500.
21. ENUGU: Coming from any part of Nigeria please proceed to Enugu City. When you get to Enugu City, locate Holy Ghost Park, ask for vehicles going to Awgu and board one of them straight to the camp. Coming from South, for eg. Port Harcourt-Calabar Axis. You don’t have to get to Enugu City, just board a bus heading to Enugu, inform the driver that you will be stopping at Awgu NYSC Camp. Remind him again, once you have passed Okigwe. Coming by air, board an airplane to the Enugu Airport. From the terminal, hire a cab straight to the camp or you can get to Holy Ghost Park and board a vehicle straight to the NYSC Camp. A second option by air, is the Owerri Airport, from Owerri, proceed by road to Okigwe, from Okigwe you will easily get a cab to the Awgu NYSC camp.
22. BORNO: Coming from Kano, tell the drivers that you're going to Gumel in Jigawa state, they'll direct you to a place that you'll get a taxi. The taxi will take you to a place that you'll get a straight bus to the College of Education, Gumel, where the temporary orientation camp is located.
23. YOBE: From Kano, get a direct bus going to Yobe. The camp is located at Potiskum. From Lagos, take a direct bus to Potiskum. From Onitsha, take a direct bus to Potiskum.

24. GOMBE: From Gombe park, enter a straight bus to the camp. The orientation camp is located at Science Technical college, Amanda, km 21, Gombe-Bauchi Highway-near International Airport Gombe.

28. EDO: From Benin, take a bus to Okada. From Okada, you'll see a cab or bike that'll take you straight to the orientation camp.
29. TARABA: The NYSC orientation camp in Taraba is located at Sibre Airport Road, Jalingo. On your way to Jalingo, you'll be dropped in the gate of the NYSC camp, because it's located at the express.
30. ZAMFARA: From Kaduna, stop at Kawo park, get a bike or taxi to NDA junction where Zamfara park is located and get a bus to Zamfara, the camp is along the road at Tsafe LGA.
31. BENUE: From Makurdi last bus stop, cross to the other side and directly in front of Winners Chapel church, there are cars going to Gboko, from Gboko, you'll drop at the NYSC camp just after police college by the road side.
32. PLATEAU: From Jos, take a straight bus to Mangu where the orientation camp is located for a rate of 500 naira. The journey will take 45 minutes to 1 hour.
33. EBONYI: From Abakaliki, enter a bus to Afikpo Macgregor camp. Stop at the junction and take a straight bike to the camp.

I RAPED MY MOTHER BECAUSE I COULDN'T RESIST URGE FOR SEX

www.brightnlere.blogspot.com, Nlere bright , a 45-year-old man, has been arrested by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping his mother.

Ihuaku, who hails from Umueke Ezagbogu in the Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of the State, was handed over to the corps by the youth in the community after his mother reported the incident to them.

The NSCDC commander said: “The men of the command later proceeded to the residence of the suspect and arrested him,” he added.

Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he was under the influence of alcohol.

“After drinking on that fateful evening, there was a heavy downpour and I could not resist the urge for sex; so, I had to use a local pistol to threaten my mother to submission and I later raped her,” Ihuaku stated.

Asked if he was married, the suspect said he did not have the means yet, as he was not doing anything tangible.

“I was not bewitched. I was under the influence of alcohol,” he added.

It was also gathered that the incident took place in the house the suspect is living in with his mother.

The mother (name withheld) confessed that the incident was the second time.

She said, “I was in the kitchen and saw him (Ihuaku) with a pistol. He used it to threaten me. He told me that he would kill me. I could not do anything other than to beg him to drop the gun.

“It was in the process that he threw me on the ground and it (rape) happened.

“I had to call on the youths the next morning, as the incident happened when it was already dark and damp. The youth later went to the NSCDC headquarters in Itu to report him, hence his arrest.”

NIGERIAN AIRFORCE HELICOPTER CRASHE

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its helicopter crashed in the process of landing while returning from an anti-banditry combat.
      A statement on Wednesday in Abuja by NAF’s spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said that details of the cause of the incident, which occurred at the Katsina Airport at about 3.30pm, were still scanty. “However, there was no loss of life, either of persons on board the helicopter or on the ground,” he said. Gas explosion at a Port Harcourt shopping mall on Wednesday ignited a fire which left at least five persons critically injured. 

The incident which happened around 4:00 p.m. forced the early closure of the mall.

It was gathered that the fire started at the continental cuisines’ kitchen, a section within the mall which cooks and serves Chinese and other continental dishes it was learnt that five workers at the kitchen, who were badly burnt were rushed to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

A taxi driver who witnessed the incident told The MASS WATCH that he could not stand the cries of those were injured as they were rushed to the hospital.

“aThe fire burnt about five of the workers badly. In fact, one of the victims’ skin was peeling off like burnt clothes as he cried, I couldn’t watch, to be honest.”

President Muhammadu Buhari said Friday that he remained committed to the finding of the over 200 Chibok girls seized in April 2014 by the terror sect, Boko Haram.

He said on the occasion of this year’s Children’s Day celebration that the recent rescue of Amina Ali Nkeki and Sarah Luka all of Chibok was evidence that government is unwavering in this task.

Represented by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Muhammad Bello, Buhari also called for an end to all forms of abuse and exploitation against the child, including abduction and forced early marriage.

No child or indeed any Nigerian, he said, should be put through the brutality of abduction, violence or forced marriage in whatever form, stressing that every girl has a right to education and choice of life.

He spoke of the urgent need for all stakeholders, including parents and communities at all levels to protect children against any form of violence. While wishing children happy celebration, the President urged them to be responsible citizens by respecting constituted authorities as well their parents, teachers and elders.

He called on parents to teach their children to live a life of honesty, dedication and love for the country.

Production down to 1.67m barrels as price rises above $50

The Federal Government’s anticipated revenue have further been constrained by the renewed attacks on oil facilities by Niger Delta militants.

In Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State this week, there was an attack. A section of the Tebidaba-Brass pipeline along Azuzuama- Ikienghenbiri creek in Bayelsa State that belongs to Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), an arm of the Italian oil giant Eni, was blown up.

The NAOC on Tuesday declared force majeure on oil exports Brass crude, the second in a month.Force majeure is a legal concept that absolves companies from liabilities of contractual obligations due to factors outside its control. ENI said its production was cut by 4,200 barrels per day.

An attack in the area on May 18 resulted to a shutdown of some 1,000 barrels bringing a cumulative production loss to 5,200 barrels of the oil firm’s share of crude output

Shell and ExxonMobil had earlier halted production temporarily following leaks and vandalism of oil pipelines. Shell declared force majeure after continued attacks on its Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL).

      Shell stated that the force majeure was invoked following a leak at the Nembe creek, which may result into more unavoidable accidents. It added that repairs on the 90-kilometre trunk line were being carried out by AITEO Eastern Exploration and Production Company. It is ot known when the repair will be concluded. ExxonMobil also declared temporarily force majeure on its Qua Iboe crude grade because of obstructions along a bridge leading to its Forcados terminal, which has been resolved.

Eni spokesperson confirmed the developments in a short e-mail. It said: “I can confirm the attack to the Ogbaimbiri – Tebidaba pipeline, with 4,200 barrels per day of production affected. I can confirm that force majeure has been placed on Brass oil exports from May 22, 2016.”

 Nigeria’s oil production levels have been severely attacked by the activity of militants with the resurgence of militancy costing the nation as much as 800,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The continual attacks prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to order enhanced security in the region. Nigeria relies on oil sales for 70 percent of government revenue but income has been hit by the global fall in oil prices since mid-2014 and increased militancy.

Buhari has begun programmes and policies that would in the next few years make Nigeria independent of oil revenues for survival. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also said production is now at 1.67 million barrels per day (bpd) against a budgeted 2.2 million bpd, which was further confirmed by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, during a special session with members of the House of Representatives.

The authority of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori has declared Saturday 14th May, 2016 as Lecture Free day in honour of a former Lecturer of the institution Late Dr. Vyncent Elvin Eebee whose burial will hold today Saturday 14th May, 2016.

Dr. Eebee was gruesomely murdered in cooled blood by faceless assassins on Thursday 21st April, 2016 at St. Peter's Anglican Church field in Yeghe Community, Gokana LGA of Rivers State, while he was enroute Bori-Port Harcourt Road with a year one (ND) student of Mass Communication of his institution, the about 21yrs old female student who was later identified as Preye Favour Peterside an indigene of Opobo-Nkoro LGA of Rivers State has since been buried.

Until his unfortunate murder he was a Principal Lecturer and Director of the Center for Continuing Education (Part Time School) of Kenpoly, Bori and had been a Lecturer of Linguistics, specialized in English and French Education, he was also a former Director of the Students Industrial Training Center of the institution and was a pioneer Lecturer with over 24yrs experience.

Dr. Eebee, who was also a former Chairman of the Rivers House of Assembly Service Commission has published several articles in learned international Journals in his area of discipline and competence.

As he will be led to rest today, we at Iwor Group of Media & Consult prays that his soul rests with the Lord Almighty and join other renounced individuals/groups to demands for prompt investigation of their killers and prosecution of culprits and their coconspirators.

Church announces N500,000 rewards over missing banker By Evelyn Usman & Jimitota Onoyume PORT HARCOURT—WIFE of popular comedian in Rivers state, Mrs Chime Mike Ogbolosingha, has been kidnapped in Obio Akpor local government area of the state. The husband, Mr Mike Ogbolosingha told Vanguard that the gunmen stormed their Elenprawon residence on Sunday and abducted her. While pleading that her wife  be released, he said the kidnappers had not established contact with any member of the family, adding that the Police have been alerted on the development. Ogbolosingha, who was a former Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area in Bayelsa State said: “I was returning to Port Harcourt from Bayelsa , when I got a call that my wife had been kidnapped. They broke into my house, took away every valuable and still went away with my wife. “I am begging for the release of my wife. The kidnappers have not called me or any member of the family since the incident on Sunday. They should please release my wife, I am begging those holding her”, Ogbolosingha pleaded. Meanwhile, Tension, has heightened over the whereabouts of Mrs Bukola Olowookere, the banker who was declared missing last week. Olowookere was last seen Thursday last week in the company of her colleagues identified as; Henry Ejimofor , Bayo Ogunrinyo, in a car driven by a senior colleague identified as Itar Muktar. She was reportedly dropped off at canoe bus-stop, in Oke-Afa area of Lagos, at about 8.30pm, from where she was expected to board a bus to her Okota home. Apprehension however set in after her husband raised the alarm when she did not return home midnight and subsequently reported the case at the Ejibo Police division. brightnlere gathered that when her telephone number was dialled, someone picked but did not speak. So far, those that were last seen with the 33 year-old Ondo state- born missing woman have been interrogated by detectives at the State Anti Robbery Squad,SARS, Ikeja, where the matter was transferred to. The church where she worshiped, the Redeemed Church of God, Place of Mercy Parish, Area 26, zone three of Lagos Province 61 has announced a N500,000 rewards for anyone with useful information that could lead to the whereabouts of  Mrs. Bukola Olowookere.

 Digital Cameras

While those are logical questions to ask, it is more important to first know what types of digital cameras are on the market. Take a look at each of the categories below and you should be able to determine which is the best type of camera for you.

This tutorial will give you general information about the different  types of digital cameras on the market for consumers. If you need a little more detailed information about each type of camera, check the tutorial for that specific camera category.

Digital Slr Cameras: (aka  Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras or DSLR cameras): Digital SLR cameras are the most versatile and advanced type cameras available on the consumer market.

The first thing you will notice about a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera is
that it is larger than any compact consumer camera and putting one in your
pocket is out of the question. The Canon EOS Rebel T5i  or the  Nikon D3300
are examples of good quality affordable Digital Slr cameras.

When using a Digital Slr camera you can set the camera to the automatic
mode and just start taking pictures. However, you also have the option of
taking pictures in the full manual mode, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, or
program modes.

The most important thing to remember about using a Digital Single Lens
Reflex camera is that you have more control over the way the picture will be
taken as far as exposure settings.

Another important feature of Digital Slr cameras is that you can change the camera lens to fit different situations.  For instance you can use a fixed focal length 28mm lens for wide angle scenes, then remove that lens and put on a 200mm fixed focal length telephoto lens to pull the scene in closer. You also have the option to use a variety of  zoom lenses with different zoom ranges.

The lenses for Digital Slr cameras will generally be of a better quality than those found on compact cameras which will result in better image quality. Read the tutorial, Camera Lens Types for more details about the importance of the camera lens.

Another big difference between Digital Slr cameras and compact cameras is the image sensor size. Digital SLR cameras have larger image sensors which will generally produce better quality images. If you are not familiar with camera sensors, please read the Digital Camera Image Sensors tutorial.

Compact Digital Cameras: Digital compact cameras, which are also known
as Point and Shoot cameras, vary  in features, price, and styles. Their smaller
size and ease of use  is the main appeal of  these types of digital cameras.

Most basic compact cameras will fit in a pocket or small purse. All of the current  
compact cameras have a minimum three time (3X) zoom lens and at least
12 megapixels. With that many megapixels, great looking, quality images can be
enlarged to 16 X 20 inch print size.

Today's digital compact cameras are equipped with a fully automatic mode
which is great for beginners or those who just want to "point and shoot" when
taking pictures.

In addition to the automatic mode, digital compact cameras come equipped with a number of scene modes  such as landscape, portrait, sports and fireworks among others. Those scene modes make it easy to adapt to different types of picture taking situations.

Manual adjustments to camera settings like the shutter speed or lens aperture setting can't be done on a basic digital compact camera. Those functions are set automatically when you take the picture. So once again, compact cameras are made for ease of use rather than giving the photographer full control over every camera setting.

However, the average casual photographer can get great pictures from a basic compact camera and there usually won't be a need for manual adjustments.

Bridge Compact Digital Cameras/Super Zoom Cameras: Bridge cameras, also known as Advanced Compact cameras are a step up from the Basic Compact camera.

 

 

The  main difference between Bridge cameras and Basic Compact cameras is
that  they allow the photographer to have more control over the camera's
exposure  settings. Bridge cameras will have semi automatic, Aperture  Priority,
Shutter priority, and Program modes.

Most will also have a  Manual mode that will allow the photographer  to  have
full control over the camera exposure settings.

Many Bridge cameras also have lenses with a much longer zoom range than
other cameras. For instance, instead of a three to five time zoom lens range,
the zoom  lens range for some Bridge cameras might be as high as forty times (40X).

Bridge Cameras with very long zoom ranges are often referred to as "Super Zoom" cameras. The Panasonic Lumix FZ200 shown above has a  (24X) optical zoom lens.

The lens on a Bridge camera is "fixed" and cannot be removed and replaced with a different one the way you
can change the lens on a Digital Slr camera. Also, most Bridge cameras will have a smaller image sensor and a smaller lens than the ones found on a Digital Slr camera.

Most bridge cameras are larger than basic point and shoot cameras but are smaller than Digital SLR cameras. Some bridge cameras have shapes similar to Digital SLR cameras, but many are shaped like digital compact cameras. (just slightly larger). Take a look at the Nikon CoolPix P340 as an example.

Bridge cameras are great for photographers who want a little more control over the camera exposure settings and in some cases perhaps a longer zoom range. These features are available in Bridge Cameras without having to pay the higher purchase price of a Digital Slr camera.

Compact System Cameras/Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Cameras: These types of digital  cameras are very similar to Digital Slr cameras. Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens cameras allow the photographer to use the camera in full manual, automatic, or semi-automatic modes the same way Digital Slr cameras can be operated.
